I get up an go. I have always been that way and I hope I always will be (I can hear the night owls scoffing right now, it’s okay, I’m married to one and he regularly reminds me that I have too much energy in the morning). That’s okay because my dad once said, “there is a world outside waiting to be explored for those who are awake.” My family took this literally, so we got up and went, whether it was riding motorcycles in the desert, camping in Yosemite, or catching a sunrise at the beach, the morning was our domain.
And I have been this way ever since, albeit, heavily aided by coffee now and alongside my high-school-crush-turned-husband that skates everywhere like he’s still a teen. His age has changed but his Vans have not. I’m not complaining, though. He’s my biggest fan, greatest supporter, and gave me three beautiful babes. My oldest daughter is more beautiful and smarter than any child my husband and I ever thought we could make.
My middle boy is a small time prankster, part time math wiz and full time mama’s boy. And my youngest, the little introvert that asks for “alone time” when he needs some peace and quiet from living out the rest of his life as a dinosaur. They are my tribe, my crew and my clique.
That’s a snapshot of my life and the people in it that mean the most. They are the reason I picked up a camera and started shooting. I want to live these moments today, but I also want to capture them for tomorrow. I strive to find the middle ground between being in the moment and capturing the moment. We need both. We need the balance between experiencing the concert while the music blasts from the speakers and sharing old photos of the first vacation you went on as a family.
“Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.”
